Within Philadelphia there are three main options for getting around town…

Walking

From the partner hotel (Holiday Inn Express Midtown) to The Shubin is approximately a 25 minute walk, which heads through Center City Philadelphia, cuts across Society Hill, and ends in the South Street/Headhouse Square District.

Public Transit

The Shubin is within one block of SEPTA Bus Route 47, which is a North/South bus running along 3rd and 4th streets. For audiences coming from the West, SEPTA’s Route 40 bus will drop you at the corner of 4th & South streets within a one minute walk of the theatre. Visitors coming on the Market-Frankford Subway Line (Blue Line) can hop off at the 5th Street station and take a 10 minute walk south to The Shubin. If you are traveling on the Broad Street Subway (Orange Line) you can hop off at the South Street station and you’ll have a 15 minute walk to the theatre.

Taxi

Cabs can be hailed virtually anywhere in Center City Philadelphia, or can be called from the front-desk of any hotel in the city. The cost at flag drop is $2.70, with an additional $0.23 charged for each 1/10 of a mile or 37.6 seconds (yes, really) of waiting time. A cab trip from our partner hotel to the theater would be between 5-15 minutes depending on traffic and cost approximately $6-8. If you are taking a taxi, ask them to drop you at the corner of 4th and Bainbridge streets. If you are flying into Philadelphia International Airport there is a flat-rate of $28.50 for the trip into Center City. All cabs in the city accept cash or credit cards.
