Toy Soldiers

See what happens when toys go rogue and take over the playroom! Toy Soldiers presents an innovative format that explores the trials and tribulations of the playthings we all grew up with, combining the fun of Saturday morning cartoons with the danger of self-discovery. Truly a show that is more than meets the eye.

PERFORMING THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH AT 11:02PM

Toy Soldiers

Toy Soldiers (Kelly Vrooman & Alan Williams)

About the Group:

Alan Williams, has been improvising since 2000, and has studied under Rob Corrdry, Brian Huskey, and Chris Gethard at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Zach Ward at Dirty South Improv, and with Philadelphia Improv Theater (PHIT) Executive Director Greg Maughan. Alan has performed in numerous improv groups, including Cornell University’s short-form group “The Whistling Shrimp” and short-lived NYC-based alumni group “Hot Shot City.” He was a co-founder of the UCB long-form group “Late for Class,” which performed at numerous venues throughout NYC including Gotham Comedy Club and Above Kleptomania at the now-defunct Show World Center. Alan co-wrote, produced, directed, and starred in several video projects for Chicago City Limits’ First Sundays and UCB’s Filet-o’-Film festivals. Most recently, Alan has been performing with Philadelphia’s “The N Crowd” (www.phillyncrowd.com), and took second place in PHIT’s 2010 Troika competition with his group “The Meadowbrook Public Library Storybook Players.” Other recent projects include the co-founding of musical improv group “Ladies and Gentlemen.” When he isn’t improvising, Alan can usually be found working hard as a biopharmaceutical marketer (seriously!) or singing Boyz II Men’s hit song “I’ll Make Love to You” at Yakatori Boy.

Kelly Vrooman began her career in comedy at the ripe old age of 4 when she singlehandedly recreated “Three Amigos” in her parents’ living room (it got great reviews). Now, as an “adult”, she’s built an extensive resume in theatre, television and improvisational comedy. Ms. Vrooman currently entertains children nationwide as a morning host for TV’s only live show for preschoolers, The Sunny Side Up Show, on the Sprout network. She has also voiced a variety of characters for Preschool Musical on a Stick and The Sprout Sharing Show, recipient of the Cablefax Award “Best Children’s Show” in 2009. Ms. Vrooman has appeared in numerous national commercials and can be seen performing regularly in the hilariously improvised comedy show, ComedySportz.
